Open access options

BMJ provides a number of options for you to make your research open access.

Publish in The BMJ

Our flagship journal The BMJ was an early pioneer of open access, publishing all research on an open access basis for over 20 years. Non-research articles may also be published open access depending on funder mandates. For more information, visit The BMJ’s open access page.

Publish in one of our fully open access journals

BMJ publishes a number of fully open access titles from the broad-scope BMJ Open, our first fully open access journal, to a portfolio of specialty journals, spanning across different subject areas including global health, ophthalmology, respiratory research and many more.

Publish in one of our hybrid journals using our open access option
